Join us for an enlightening journey through the Historic Center of Mexico City, where we will explore the legacies of some of Mexico’s most influential women. This tour will take you through key landmarks in the northern quarters of the city, unveiling the remarkable stories of these women and their impact on Mexican history. 1. Frida Kahlo’s Former High School​

This tour offers a comprehensive exploration of Mexico City's Historic Center, focusing on the influential women who have left a lasting mark on the city's history and culture.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The tour takes you through the Historic Center, a World Heritage site, passing or visiting magnificent landmarks including beautiful former Catholic schools & convents. We will unravel incredible stories at every turn, such as our Catholic Patroness Guadalupe and our founding mothers: Leona, Josefa & La Güera, plus world celebrities like Sor Juana Inés & Frida Kahlo, in multiple landmark buildings, museums, and monuments.
From ancient times to date, we will recall women who had a defining role in history, politics, arts, literature, education, religion, sports & science like Matilde Montoya, Mexico's first female physician.​ You will learn about Mexico's greatest women whilst meandering through the streets in which they lived, finishing at the Museum of Women, displaying history from a gender perspective.
WHERE YOU WILL BE
After starting next to Frida Kahlo’s former high school, we will visit it before proceeding to Plaza de Santo Domingo, the Palace of the Spanish Inquisition, the Old Medicine School, El Camino Real, working Federal Offices, the Old Central Customs House and the Museum of Women, all in the northern quarters of the city’s Historic Center.

At two of the main squares within the 16th century city limits, we will discover where all these famous women lived and worked by walking on the scene and sharing stories seldom told. We will see historical sites, the home of the first Náhuatl-Spanish interpreter and another of one of our founding mothers among many others.

THE EXPERIENCE
From Coatlicue, the mother of all Aztec deities, to Frida Kahlo, you will learn of many women who marked 700 years of Mexican History from the life of the Aztec to the “adelitas” (weapon carriers in the Revolutionary Civil War) of which one went on to become what today would be called a trans-man, including a lieutenant nun and other scholars.
STARTING POINT, ENDING POINT, FACILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION
The experience begins at the southern gate to the San Ildefonso compound. Visits do not return to the starting point. This experience ends at Museo de la Mujer, close to Metrobus station República de Argentina on Line 4N. Zocalo metro station is six blocks away. Your host will always remain with you until he makes sure everyone has the right directions and/or help for their next destination.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Any experience can be canceled at least 7 days before the experience starts for a refund minus a 20% processing charge. Rescheduling and changes can be made at least 3 days before the experience starts. Refunds are counted from the original date of purchase.
GUEST REQUIREMENTS
Up to 10 guests ages 18 and up can attend our public experiences. All experiences include a long walk, mostly under the sun, with very few restroom stops (depending on the destination). Liquids aren't allowed inside venues, please be willing to dispose of your containers.

We begin on the dot and do not wait for missing participants. Neither you nor us can be late to our next destination.
WEATHER
This experience goes on rain or shine, please come prepared. In case of rain, we will do our best to spend as much time as possible indoors. In case of unforeseen closures of streets or venues, we are always prepared with an equivalent or alternate route.
