This exploration of San Ángel offers a fascinating glimpse into an independent and separate township in the ancient outskirts of Mexico City. Here’s what you can expect from your visit:

WHAT YOU WILL DO

We will visit the district of San Angel, located in southern Mexico City, with mansions full of stories and legends. We begin at the Museo del Carmen, a monastic institution built between 1613 and 1628 by the religious Catholic order of the Discalced Carmelites. Today, 488 years after its founding, it is a historical museum that houses more than 80 religious art pieces, about 12 mummified corpses, and a large garden that once served as an orchard for the friars.

Afterwards we walk to Bazaar Sábado, one of the most visited and colorful folk-art displays in Mexico City, which opened its doors in 1960 and is considered a craft center par excellence. It offers its visitors a wide range of items ranging from handicrafts to artistic canvas paintings.

We also visit La Casa del Risco, a museum located in front of the Plaza San Jacinto and Bazaar Sábado in San Angel. The museum was dedicated on October 2, 1963, as a donation from Isidro Fabela and his family. This historical site is now a museum of colonial art.
